The organic Kalevala Navy Strength Gin is produced in North-Karelia in Finland. The name Kalevala comes from The Kalevala, an epic poem of Finland.

At 50.9% alcohol, Kalevala Navy Strength gin is stronger in contrast to the normal Kalevala gin. Among the botanicals that go into this gin are juniper, Jerusalem artichoke, rosemary and sea-buckthorn. The result is a very aromatic taste with juniper as the main note and a slightly sweet touch.

This organic gin is produced in small quantities only.

The name Navy Strength originates from the history of the British Navy. In the 18th and 19th century, they carried gin on all ships. In order to ensure that they have a good gin that hasn't been diluted, they poured it onto gunpowder and lighted it. Once the gunpowder started to burn, they knew that the gin was of navy strength. If it didn't burn, then the gin was being diluted by the distiller.
