An original and Italian cask-aged grappa, made in the region of Venice. What makes this grappa unique, apart from its beautiful bottle design, is the ancient grape variety used. The grapes are called "Raboso Piave" and was the main grape variety used for wines and grappa in the 19th century and the first half of the 20th century. Later on, other grape varieties such as Merlot and Sauvignon became more popular, and vine makers almost forgot about the Piave grape. The Gambrinus family distillery insists on preserving this particular grape variety and still makes a large range of their wines, fruit brandies and sparkling wines using the Piave grape.

The Gambrinus family distillery can be traced back until 1874, and apart from running their own vineyards, distilling and exporting delicious Italian products, the family owns numerous well-renowned restaurants. The vineyards and distillery are located in the village San Polo di Piave, which is about 30 miles from Venecia.

Barricata di Raboso is distilled with Piave pomace brandy and in order to reveal the fruity notes of cherries and blackberries, the copper stills are heated with hot water steam instead of firewood. This ensures a very slow and gentle distillation process.
Afterwards, the Barricata di Raboso is placed in oak casks and stored in a cold natural cellar with an average room temperature of 4 – 5 ° C.
