- In 1920, the Combier distillery purchased stills from Maison Pernod Fils. Ted Breaux nowadays produces absinthes such as Nouvelle-Orléans, Edouard, Verte Suisse and… Blanchette.
- This distillery in Saumur specialised in the production of Guignolet (a liqueur made from sour cherries). However, Blanchette was their flagship product and the most sold! No doubt a sign of the craze for absinthe in those days.
- Blanchette participated at the 2007 Absinthiades where it was awarded third place.
The Combier distillery was founded in 19834. Today it is the oldest distillery in the Loire region still in production.
Apart from absinthe, it produces, according to ancestral methods, refined alcohols: liqueurs qnd alcohols, but also syrups from the region's fruit. The main products are Triple Sec, one of the distillery's original creations, the Royal Combier as well as a wide variety of fruit liqueurs for cocktails.
- At first, savour Blanchette with half a piece of sugar. Then add more or less according to your taste.
- For one measure of absinthe (3cl), add 2 to 5 measure of fresh water.

Cool refined refreshing flavours. An enjoyable drink. I'm not an experienced Absetheur, but this was a significant step up from the Polish Absinthe available at the supermarket.

I got this as a free sample when I ordered the Bastille Day special. It is a very subtle;almost feminine style of absinthe. For those who like strong flavors or bitterness this is not for you. This is a pleasant, gentle drink & would make a good present for an absintheur without spending too much money.I would drink it again, but I'm saving my money for the Edouard & PF's!

This absinthe is unreal. I snagged this along with the Jade line, and, in all honesty, this one is my favorite of the 5 (I guess I'm more of a blanche fan). The aging of Breaux's products allows for all of the flavours to blend together in such a harmonious fashion. The balance achieved in this absinthe in sublime, everything is where it needs to be. Just enough anise, a great fennel complement, and a strong wormwood base to it. But the slight yellow color is part of the magic. I'm pretty such this absinthe is aged in an oak (or similar wood) barrel. The wood gives it that slight yellow tinge while imbuing it with a hint of vanilla in the nose and the finish. It's the perfect afterthought to round out this absinthe. Oh, and the louche is beautifully thick with a great separation.

Haven't tasted it yet, but didn't want to ruin it's rating. I have a question for Alessandro Rovelli. Posted 31/08/2010 - or anyone else who knows for sure.
"Blanche French Absinthes show a light hint of pale yellow colour."
Why do Blanche French Absinthes show colour?
Which other Blanche French Absinthes show colour?
Approximately what % of Blanche French Absinthes show colour?
Thanks Muchness to anyone who has the knowledge, time and willingness to answer.

Absinthe Blanchette is one of my Vafourite Absinthe ever! Produced in the Combier
distillery by T. A. Breaux (the same of Jade Absinthes).
Blanchette comes from the genius of Breaux and the original Combier's recipe; infact, this absinthe was produced by Combier at the ending of Belle Epoque in the same pot still uset today. So well as you can see, this typology of Absinthe shows a difference in the colouration, in fact ther's no colouration! This Absinthes called "Blanche" are the most poupular in the Val-De-Travers region of Switzerland and they're completely transparent, but Blanche French Absinthes show a light hint of pale yellow colour.
An incredible ancient French Absinthe in a Swiss way.
