- During the Belle Epoque, after Pontarlier, Fougerolles had the highest number of producers of absinthe. Sometimes some of the casks used in Fougerolles were sent to Pontarlier to cover their needs.
The Devoille distillery was founded in 1859. It still bears the name of its founder, Paul Devoille, since he largely contributed to its success and the beginning of the century. He is to be thanked for the recipe of Libertine (1894), now preciously kept at the Musée des Eaux de Vie in Lapoutroie, France.
After having belonged to Raymond Gouttefroy (son-in-law of Paul Devoille), the distillery was handed over to René de Miscault in 1985. The latter considerably changed the running of the company and enlarged the range of its products and also opened the Paul Devoille distillery to the public.
Today it is Hugues de Miscault, the son of René de Miscault, who runs this family distillery.
- At first, savour Fleur d'Absinthe with half a piece of sugar. Then add more or less according to your taste.
- For one measure of absinthe (3cl), add 2 to 5 measure of fresh water.

This was a wonderful surprise. Beautiful milky louche and lovely flavor. The addition of the artiemisia spring is delightful. Highly recommend.

I initially sampled this to compare lower priced Absinthes. What I found was a surprise. There is a certain something that it possesses that the Libertine lacks. The wormwood is more pronounced and forward - either from the sprig or the distillation process. While it's a great bargain I cannot compare it to other, more complex Absinthes I have tried. For this price point I give it high marks.

A fantastic absinthe with a great aroma and taste. A very full flavor, as noted in some other comments, likely due to the sprig that is inside the bottle. Most likely in my top five absinthes. It is plenty strong though there are stronger brands. And it's a great price.

This tastes about the same as the Libertine 55, but with a certain fullness to it. I'm guessing it's because of the constant saturation of the branch inside.

Lovely presentation, really sophisticated flavor, one of my favorites. I have to say it again, never try to eat the flowers or the plants inside the bottles, it is not an intelligent idea.

I really enjoy this one. It is very agreeable with me on many levels. Considering how often I choose to pour from it as opposed to the others, it may possibly be my favourite. Highly recommended.

The most incredible absinthe I have never tryed. However I sent a bottle to my cousin out of the city and something went brong with the label, all the liquor fills out. It was so so sad. Anyway, the 2 bottles came to me perfectly and I loved the taste and smell of this variety.

Yeah this one is amazing, it quickly became my favorite.
I would say simply because of the wild taste from the after-still continuous maceration with this twig inside. It leaps at you with a meadow of aroma's and tastes very complex in a very enjoyable way.
Sweet, fresh, chamomile, herbal, alpine meadows, not too bitter... are the basic thoughts that I linger with when drinking this, it continuously leads me to analyze its complexity - and even in conversation I am partially pre occupied with the flavor, which is very well balanced as well.
